grand central market

grand central market
truth is i've not been but i keep hearing the best things about the grand central market and the website is making me really hungry! katie went in my stead and came back with fantastic finds.

here's her take on shopping for her thanksgiving dinner. i may have to crash!

enjoy!

xo,
gaye.
grand central market is both a historic downtown landmark and buzzing foodie hotspot, making it the perfect place to spend a saturday morning exploring. with thanksgiving just around the corner, i invited my mom (for both her menu planning expertise and great company), and we set out to plan our feast!

it should be noted that you cannot visit grand central market without eating at eggslut, arguably the most hyped about vendor. grab a delicious cappuccino from g&b coffee to enjoy while you stand in line, as there will inevitably be a line. our thirty-minute wait was well worth every yolk-y bite.
now that we were caffeinated and satiated, it was time to shop! fresh bottled juices from pressed brothers to enjoy as a light breakfast on thanksgiving morning - or the morning after over-indulging - were a must. their menu is simple but well-rounded, with fruit and vegetable juices perfect for resetting your system during the holidays.
if your thanksgiving spread includes stuffing, stop by berlin currywurst for deliciously herbed sausage. torres produce is well-stocked for fall cooking - pumpkins, potatoes, carrots, and onions abound. if spending the day in the kitchen is not on your thanksgiving day menu, you can pick up an organic, farm-raised smoked turkey from belcampo meat co. for a delicious bird without the hassle.
for dessert, we were tempted by mcconnell's ice cream's seasonal flavors, like cardamom & gingersnap, but settled on a pie (of course!) from valerie confections, as well as some pastries and preserves for overnight guests to enjoy the next morning. last but not least, don't forget a fresh country loaf from clark street bread for those delicious leftover turkey sandwiches!

wishing you all happy planning, shopping, eating, and thanksgiving.

katie
