kai conversations... with giuliana rancic
we are starting a new chapter in our blog called "kai conversations". in it we will be asking our very favorite kai devotees some questions in hopes of giving us a small glimpse into their lives. please enjoy our very first kai conversation... with, in our estimation, one of the hardest working people in the business, mrs. giuliana rancic. i love the perspective she's gained from the challenges she faced and her life's too short attitude!
thank you, giuliana!

how do you embody kai's breath*life*flow lifestyle?
i try to live each day to the fullest and savor every moment of each day. after going through my battle with breast cancer, i have a different outlook on life. life is meant to be enjoyed and, frankly, it's too short to be stressed out and worried about the little things. i love going with the flow and being happy in the moment.

what's your beauty secret?
sleep and sunscreen! both are so important not only as beauty secrets, but for overall health. i try to get at least seven hours a night which is hard with a three year old, but we are all on a pretty good sleep schedule.

how would you describe your personal style?
i would describe my personal style as casual chic. on television, i am always wearing dresses and heels, but in my "normal" every day life i typically wear skinny jeans and a t-shirt. i am chasing my toddler around all the time and this is the most functional style for that too!

what do you love most about where you live? any secret spots that you love to go to?
we just recently relocated to chicago permanently and we are so incredibly happy here. i think the one thing that makes chicago so special is the people. everyone is so genuinely nice and seems so happy all the time. it's not a secret, but we are always at one of our two restaurants, RPM Italian and RPM Steak. they are amazing and the hottest spots in chicago right now.

morning person or night owl?
i am definitely a morning person. i wake up and get my day started right away.

favorite date spot?
bill and i love to have date night at either of our restaurants, RPM Italian or RPM Steak depending on what we are in the mood for.

do you have a mantra you live by?
everything will be okay in the end--if it's not okay, it's not the end.

what's the most adventurous thing you've done?
the most adventurous thing i have ever done is run a half marathon. it was really hard for me, but i got through it!

what's your favorite way to relax/unwind?
i love being at home in my sweats having a glass of wine at the end of a long day. i recently started my own line of stackable wine called XO, G and it's perfect for that exact scenario. it's four individual glasses stacked into one bottle. you can have just one glass without having to open an entire bottle.

describe your perfect day.
a perfect day for me would be taking a long walk on north shore beach with bill and duke followed by a fun picnic for just the three of us. there is absolutely nothing better in the world than a day like that with my two favorite guys.

what book are you currently reading?
i recently rediscovered my husband bill's book You're Hired as i was unpacking our home in chicago. it's an amazing book and has great business advice. i'm getting a lot of good tips from it.

favorite lipstick color?
lately i have been going back and forth between nude shades and bright pinks and reds. i have fun with my lipstick color and don't really have a favorite.

what color nail polish are you wearing right now?
i am currently wearing a nude color. i recently got a gel manicure and they used a combination of a few colors to get the perfect shade of nude i wanted.

do you have any beauty or female icons, either celebrity or real women you know?
sophia loren has always been a beauty and fashion icon for me. she is the epitome of a classy, gorgeous italian woman with impeccable style.

what is your favorite food?
mama depandi's bucatini pomodoro will always be my favorite. i love it so much we even put it on the menu at one of our restaurants in chicago, RPM Italian. it's the number one best selling item on our menu! it's THAT good!

do you have a favorite quote?
"happiness does not depend on what you have or who you are. it solely relies on what you think." -buddha
i really like this quote because it's a reminder that we are all responsible for our own happiness. there is so much power behind positive attitude and that is what has gotten me through some of the biggest obstacles of my life.
