how did you first discover kai?

i first discovered kai when i was preparing to embark on a three-month backpacking trip around italy. i wanted something to remind me of home during my first solo trip abroad, so i wanted to pack a piece of california in my backpack with me. the kai travel set was the perfect travel companion then, and i've used kai's products ever since.

what’s your favorite kai product and why?

the deodorant! i use it daily and it's part of my morning routine that makes me smile every single day. :)

do you have a mantra you live by?

"everything is going to the beat" – it's from the song sleepyhead by passion pit. when i first heard the lyric it stuck with me, and it's something i repeat to myself on good days and bad. it's like, everything is going the way it's supposed to.

who is your role model?

the former l.a. times food critic, jonathan gold. the way he wrote about food made it appealing and inclusive to everyone. he lifted up chefs and restaurants and his love for los angeles shone through every word he wrote.

describe your perfect day.

my perfect day would start with coffee and pastries, continue with an outdoor activity in the sun like a hike or walk on the beach with my dog, and finish with good wine and good food in the company of good friends and family. and a bubble bath with a book before bed!

favorite food?

a cheeseburger!

morning person or night owl?

absolutely a night owl! it's the most peaceful time of day, when everyone's asleep and no emails are coming in, so i'm always up late burning the midnight oil.

what book are you reading currently?

the wedding people by alison espach. if you're in the mood for an unconventional rom com, i recommend it!

what’s the most adventurous thing you’ve done?

fell in love with a scandinavian and moved halfway across the world to marry him! uprooting my life was hard, but I'm grateful that we can split our time between copenhagen and california – it's the best of both worlds.
