kai conversations with louise piyarat lai, founder of gatherall

how did you first discover kai?

i first discovered kai in a department store bathroom. i remember using the hand cream and thinking, “wow, this is such a nice hand cream! the texture and scent is amazing.” the clean aesthetic of the packaging with the green logo has helped me remember kai to this day!

how do you embody kai’s “breath*life*flow” lifestyle?

no matter how hectic my year is, i always find time to travel with my whole family, all four siblings included. when i was growing up, my parents made yearly family trips a tradition. it’s about eating great food and taking in sights, but mostly relentlessly teasing each other.

committing to this tradition, even after we’ve met our partners and some of us have our own children now, is my way of unplugging from the hustle of building a business. my time with my family, removed from our daily routine, is restorative but also reminds me of exactly why I’ve chosen my current path and where I hope to go. and the cache of hilarious moments from our trips, now starring husband and baby son as well, is the safe space i visit when I just need a moment of levity.

how did you start your career? what inspired you to create gatherall?

gatherall was born out of necessity. i’ve struggled with strapless bras ever since I was young. i knew i had to do something about it–for me. It took me 3 years to design and develop the patented Gatherall bra.

what’s your beauty secret? or must have beauty product?

i put on sunscreen every single day even when it’s dark and gloomy outside. i love korean sunscreens since they are lightweight and absorb easily on my skin with the highest spf.

what color nail polish are you wearing right now?

ever since my pregnancy last year, i have not been wearing any nail polish. a year later, i still love the look and feel of fresh and healthy nails, so no polish for the time being!

guilty pleasure?

definitely chocolate! especially frischschoggi strawberry-curd white from laderach. i normally only like dark chocolate but this one is an exception.
